Every student deserves the chance to thrive. Together, we can make that happen at Highline Schools.
Students thrive when they are prepared for their future, educators are valued, communities are healthy and connected, and leadership is purposeful and accountable.
I'm the right person to make this vision a reality. I’m a mom of Highline students, daughter of Mexican immigrants, and first in my family to attend college and earn a PhD. I bring over 20 years of experience in education and community leadership.
I was appointed to the School Board in March 2025, now I’m running to retain my seat.
We earned the most votes in the primary. Now, let's finish the job - vote for me in November so together we can make our schools stronger for students, educators, and communities.
Priorities
Every student deserves the chance to thrive—academically and into their future. I lead with a deep commitment to supporting the whole student, valuing educators, and strengthening the connection between schools, families, and communities. My priorities are:
Every Student Thrives
All students deserve to graduate ready for college, career, and life—with the support they need to get there.
Communities are Healthy
and Connected
Students thrive when families are supported and stable, school environments are inclusive, and communities are truly connected to our schools.
Educators are Valued
Strong schools start with strong educators—who must be supported, well-compensated, and involved in decision-making.
Leadership is Purposeful
and Accountable
Budgeting is about values. Leadership is about trust. We need both to be transparent, strategic, and rooted in community priorities.
I lead with integrity, purpose, and a deep-rooted belief in the power of public education and community.
Meet Dr. Damarys
In March 2025, I was appointed to the Highline School Board. Now, I'm running for election to continue this work—bringing the vision, experience, and deep commitment needed to ensure every student in Highline has the opportunity to thrive.
As a parent of Highline students, I'm personally invested in the success of our schools. I'm a proud public-school graduate, a first-generation college graduate and Ph.D., and a lifelong educator. My educational journey as an English language learner and daughter of Mexican immigrants shaped my belief that all students deserve to feel seen, supported, and prepared for their future.
I've dedicated my life to creating the conditions for students to thrive. I began as a classroom instructional assistant and now teach at the University of Washington. I've led education, health, and policy initiatives in local and state government. My work has always centered
students, families, and community. Today, I work for a nonprofit serving families experiencing homelessness in the Highline community.
I bring the right mix of education, experience, and vision to serve on the Highline School Board. Vote for me in November so together we can make our schools stronger for students, educators, and communities.
